Loup Rivers Scenic Byway

Welcome to the Heartland of Nebraska! Traveling 150 miles from Wood River to Dunning along Nebraska Highways 11 and 91, the Loup Rivers Scenic Byway follows the river valleys of the Loup Basin to the beauty of the Sandhills. Named for three rivers, The North, Middle and South Loup Rivers, that rise from the Ogallala Aquifer deep in the Sandhills, the byway encourages you to slow down and enjoy small town hospitality.

From a stay on a working ranch with a visit to Nebraska’s Big Rodeo, to paddling a designated canoe trail, visiting a local festival, shopping for that special antique or just relaxing and gazing at the stars in some of the darkest skies in North America there’s something for you along the Loup Rivers Scenic Byway.

So instead of zipping past the Heartland of Nebraska on I-80, turn off, take your time and let central Nebraska and the Loup Rivers Scenic Byway put a smile on your face.
